Why You Should Choose Out-Of-Network PT
Cash-based = YOU-based. The current physical therapy and insurance model does not prioritize you and the quality of care you deserve which is why we exist!
On average, patients are prescribed physical therapy 2-3x/week and are then asked to be seen for 6-8 weeks that could range anywhere from 12-24 visits. “But my insurance covers physical therapy,” you may say to yourself. However, in most cases you’ll still have to pay a deductible, co-insurance, or a copayment. Let’s say you have a $50 copay each visit, if you are seen 2x/week for 8 weeks that would cost you $800. 3x/week for 8 weeks? $1,200. You also have to take into account the amount of time spent at the clinic as well as travel to and from the clinic each week! On average, patients spend 15-20 minutes with their physical therapist before the therapist has to start their next patient. You would be lucky to receive 30-45 minutes of one-on-one, individualized care.
We are not in network with any insurance provider because we would not be able to provide the high level of care and customer service that we do at the rates that insurance companies currently reimburse for physical therapy treatment.

FAQs
What does cash-based physical therapy mean?Cash-based physical therapy means that we are out of network with all insurance companies and do not directly bill through insurance (thought you may be eligible for reimbursement directly from your insurance company). Our patients pay us directly each visit for their 1-on-1, personalized physical therapy session. This allows us to focus all of our attention on the patient and perform treatments to focus on patient goals without being dictated by insurance rules and regulations.
Does MOVE Athletics accept health insurance at all?You can certainly use your out of network insurance benefits. You can also use your health savings account (HSA) or flex spending account (FSA). While we do collect our fees directly from our clients, we provide an itemized superbill to submit to his or her insurance company. By submitting your receipt, you may be able to recover a percentage of the cost you pay upfront (typically 60-80%) from your insurance company, depending on your "out of network" coverage.
Does cash-based mean I can only pay with cash? While cash is certainly an acceptable form of payment, patients are also able to pay with major credit and debit cards as well as FSA and HSA accounts.
Why cash-based physical therapy?Insurance companies in the United States are continually cutting reimbursement rates for rehabilitation services and dictating how clinicians treat patients. With this decline in reimbursement, many clinics are forced to treat multiple patients in the hour (this means that therapists are seeing 4+ patients at the same time) and lower patient care standards in order to make ends meet. These clinics rotate patients in and use assistants and techs to complete treatments. Patients do not receive the individualized care they need, and are encouraged to go through exercises with little to no supervision. With a cash based practice, we are able to decide how we want to treat patients as we are not regulated by the insurance companies. This allows us to provide the highest quality care for our patients, while keeping them 1- on -1 with their doctor of physical therapy for the entire hour, every visit. This increase in quality results in our patients getting better, faster than traditional insurance based physical therapy. We typically see our patients only one time per week, saving you valuable time; meaning you aren’t leaving work early, commuting to and from the clinic, and spending an hour here 3 times each week.
Do you provide online consultations?Yes, we do. Please contact our staff HERE, or call (413)-259-0509 to schedule your appointment with our Springfield, MA physical therapy clinic.

About Out of Network Physical Therapy:Move Strong Physical Therapy is a private-pay, out-of-network, rehab, and performance center. Before you get concerned, out-of-network physical therapy will likely save you more time, money and resources, while also helping you achieve your desired results.
Move Strong PT chooses an out-of-network model for our practice. In an out-of-network treatment model, our PT enters into an agreement with you to provide physical therapy services. In this agreement, the services are agreed upon in a manner that both parties have decided upon. During the course of the agreement, you will pay at the time of service, and there are no surprise bills. Using this model allows us to focus on providing direct, one-on-one care while keeping administrative costs low.
In an Out of Network Model, you may pay for services using actual cash, a check, a credit/debit card, or with your HSA. We can submit to your insurance on your behalf to curb your out-of-pocket expense. Most insurance companies, with the exception of Medicare, Medicaid, and some HMOs, provide reimbursement for services received “out of network”.
Out of Network does not mean our team is short on the education, qualifications, and accreditations necessary to provide you with best-in-class medical care. Our team has a background in strength, conditioning, and human performance to go well beyond rehab and help you live your happiest, healthiest life.
OUT OF NETWORK PT VS TRADITIONAL PTWhat is your health and fitness worth to you? While Out of Network Physical Therapy may seem like the more expensive option, it can actually save you time, money and resources. Let’s take a look at what all you would invest for and the value you’d receive for that investment.
  • Traditional PT: Patient spends most of the time on passive modalities (ice, heat, ultrasound, TENS), and weak exercise progression (therabands, bike, no gym equipment). Insurance companies do not reimburse for many therapy techniques, and it can take over 10 years for a new medical procedure to be reimbursable by insurance. With traditional PT, your care is decided by the insurance company - not your physical therapist.
  • Move Strong PT: We provide cutting edge rehab techniques, including dry needling, BFR, manual therapies. Our team focuses on movement practice and has access to a full strength and conditioning gym, and plans to use it. Your sessions focus on overall health, fitness, and performance - 100% on you as the patient with a care plan decided by the physical therapist.
The Move Strong Physical Therapy DifferenceAt Move Strong Physical Therapy, we believe in the power of medical care and movement practice through a patient-first, team approach to physical therapy. Our goal is to get you out of pain, moving better, and empowering you to take care of your body for the long-term. OUR APPROACHOur team provides one-to-one, highly-personalized care for our athletes and clients.
