Fitness does not need to be a difficult task to complete. Many times it can become overwhelming, and even the best coaches can get in their own heads at times.

Having a planned approach helps mitigate stress and keeps the checks and balances in place to make the appropriate changes necessary without having to scrap everything and stress over trying to figure it all out. 

Even in high level sports, a basic program that is planned well in progressions will likely outweigh the sexiest sports-specific looking program out there.

Many training programs have the basic lifts of bench, squat, deadlift, shoulder press, and lat pull downs, but sometimes they miss the mark when it comes to athletics.

Certainly these lifts still hold value and should not be avoided entirely as they are a great way to increase overall force output and assist with the gaining of muscle mass.

The one thing they do fall short on is the lack of ability to control and manage turning and cutting in sports.
